We believe you should know exactly what your baby is wrapped in. Here is every material in a Robbie Adrian blanket, where it comes from, and what we deliberately leave out.
Real silk charmeuse trim
Every blanket is edged in 100% silk charmeuse at 18.5 momme — a genuine, substantial silk, not the polyester or acetate “satin” that trims most baby blankets. (“Satin” is only a weave; the fiber underneath is usually plastic.) Real silk is naturally temperature-regulating, gentle on delicate skin, and carries a soft living sheen that synthetics only imitate. It is the edge your baby will seek out at nap time for years.
Organic cotton body
The body of each blanket is super-soft organic cotton, in a plush fleece or a velvety velour, on both sides. Our cotton is dyed with low-impact, non-azo, fiber-reactive dyes that contain no heavy metals, and our whitened velour is brightened with hydrogen peroxide rather than harsh chlorine bleach.
Where it’s made
We are transparent about the whole journey. Our organic cotton is grown and spun into yarn in India. That yarn is then knit into fabric and hand-sewn into finished blankets here in the USA — cut, trimmed, and sewn by hand, one blanket at a time. Nothing is mass-produced on an assembly line, and nothing is made until you order it.
What we don’t use
- No polyester or acetate “satin” trim — only real silk.
- No synthetic blanket body — only organic cotton.
- No chlorine bleach and no heavy-metal or azo dyes.
- No resale. Because every blanket is made to order and never restocked, your baby will only ever receive a blanket that has been made new, for them.
Care
All Robbie Adrian blankets are machine washable on a gentle cycle in cool water and may be tumbled dry on low or no heat. Because they are made from natural fibers with no chemical finishing, they grow softer and more “loved” with every wash.
A note on wording: we describe our materials precisely and never use certification language we don’t hold. Our cotton is organically grown; our silk is genuine; our sewing is done in the USA. We’d rather tell you exactly what something is than dress it up.
